Our guest for the 11th Kickin' the Door Blog series episode is no stranger to sneaker culture: After copping a pair of the Nike Air Max 1 "Premium Crepe Hemp" in 2011, Margriet van Overbeek could no longer look at athletic footwear the same way she used to. Although we are all too familiar with the proud feeling of wearing the first pair of kicks we consciously wanted, Margriet's beloved Crepe Hemp execution will only live on in her memory as it unfortunately did not survive her teenage years. On the bright side, the scarring moment motivated her to join the once notorious Rotterdam-based sneaker store SeventyFive to broaden her knowledge of all things footwear. At the same time, she is currently busy with obtaining her Masters Degree in the Economics of the Arts.

NIKE AIR MAX DELUXE "THROWBACK FUTURE"

(Released in 2019)

Surprise! Another pair of Nike's - although I have to admit that this one wasn't exactly love at first sight. I was familiar with the model, but the colors scared me at first. We sold the shoe in the store I worked at and everyday I took a more closer look at this pair. Gradually I became fond of the colors, the 3M and chrome, and especially the pink lining in the air unit. It completes my fits.

NIKE AIR MAX 90 "OG ROSE"

(Released in 2020)

I fell in love with this pair when I saw the tone of pink Nike used for this sneaker. I always saw Air Max 90s on other people's feet and thought 'damn they look good', but I had not found my significant pair yet. So when I saw these I just got all excited, they are so vibrant. That is why it is one of my favorite sneakers, my first pair of 90s.

NIKE AIR MAX 90/1 "UNIVERSITY RED"

(Released in 2018)

This sneaker is my first pick because I am a fan of the hybrid Air Max and I do not come across them often. I think it is beautiful to have an Air Max 1 upper which is somewhat delicate, on top of an Air Max 90 sole, which is more coarse. And with this classic colour combination of red and white, and leather everything, it became my favorite pair.
